Lichii Emulator: the open-source Switch 2 emulator, explained

Lichii is a very experimental, open-source emulator for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 games, written in C++ and maintained by zortos293 on GitHub. It is a fork of the Eglantine Switch 2 emulator, which itself comes from Eden, yuzu and Sudachi. This guide explains what Lichii can and cannot do today, which official file to download, and how to stay away from fake “Switch 2 emulator” sites. (People sometimes type it as “litchi emulator”; the project is spelled Lichii.)

Lichii does not include any games, keys or firmware, and neither does this site. The project says to use only games and system files you have legally obtained. We do not link to or explain how to obtain ROMs, XCI/NSP files, keys or firmware.

What Lichii is today

The README describes Lichii as “an experimental, open-source Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 emulator written in C++” that “builds on Eglantine, Eden, yuzu and Sudachi, preserving their contributions while developing this fork's game compatibility and renderer fixes.” In practice that means:

Guides

How to start (official instructions)

  1. Open the Releases page of zortos293/Lichii and pick the file for your system (see the download guide).
  2. Windows: extract the whole zip into its own folder and run lichii.exe (or eden-cli.exe from a terminal).
  3. Linux: make the AppImage executable (chmod +x) and run it, or extract the tar.gz and run ./lichii.
  4. macOS: unzip and move lichii.app to Applications. It is not notarized, so the first time right-click it and choose Open.
  5. Back up your saves first. The README says the rebrand keeps the existing Eden/Eglantine data folders and settings, and experimental builds can break things.

Bugs go to the official issue tracker. The README asks for the exact build, game version, CPU, GPU, driver, settings, steps, a screenshot and the log, and says not to upload game files, keys, firmware or account information.

FAQ

What is the Lichii emulator?

Lichii is an experimental, open-source Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 emulator written in C++, published by zortos293 on GitHub as zortos293/Lichii under the GPL-3.0 license. Its README calls it an independent fork that builds on Eglantine, Eden, yuzu and Sudachi. The GitHub description says “VERY experimental”.

Is Lichii a working Switch 2 emulator?

Partly, and only for some games. Release notes for builds 70 and 75 report Star Fox, Donkey Kong Bananza, Kirby Air Riders, Mario Kart World and other titles booting or running with fixes, but each has known issues, and the README says rendering errors, stutters and crashes remain possible. There is no official compatibility list yet. See compatibility and status.

Where do I download Lichii?

Only from the GitHub Releases page of zortos293/Lichii. The latest build is build-75 (November 5, 2026). Every release is marked pre-release. This site does not host any files; see the download guide for exact file names and sizes.

Is Lichii free?

Yes. The README says Lichii is free and stays free, every release stays free and public, and donations (crypto only, listed in the README) do not buy early access, exclusive builds or support. Anyone charging for a “Lichii” download is not the project.

Which platforms does Lichii run on?

Windows x86_64 (two zip builds), Linux x86_64 and ARM64 (AppImage or tar.gz, glibc 2.39 or newer) and macOS 15 or newer on Apple Silicon. There is no Android APK, iOS app or Intel Mac build in the releases.

Does Lichii come with games, keys or firmware?

No. The README says games, keys and firmware are not included and you should only use games and system files you have legally obtained. This site does not provide them or explain how to get them.

Is Lichii the same as Eglantine?

No. Eglantine (Djihads80/Eglantine) is the upstream project. Lichii started as zortos293’s fork, released builds under the Eglantine name until build 65, and renamed the app to Lichii in early November 2026. It still merges upstream Eglantine regularly. See Lichii vs Eglantine.
